Watching this video makes me miss the first three seasons of FNL. Don’t get me wrong. I’m loving season four. But I loved the first three as well. And for the record, I didn’t think Season Two was bad like a lot of people. I liked one and three better…yes. But still liked season two.

4×2 :: After The Fall

After a tumultuous start to Season Four, the second episode doesn’t disappoint at all. Buddy gives a tip to his old friend that stirs the pot between East and West Dillon. The tension is still there between Joe McDouche and Tami. But a new tension builds between Coach Taylor and Tami. The Lions quit but give Coach a second chance. Luke changes from a Panther to a Lion, and new beginnings for Tim Riggins?

For this episode Russ Polsgrove joins as a cohost, as he and I tackle both the good (and puzzling) parts of 4×2.

4×1 East Of Dillon :: Reaction?

Wow. Seems that things are back on track and moving quickly. Last season ended both neatly and open ended. Glad it was open ended enough to allow us TWO more seasons.

So as we jump into the premiere episode of Season Four of Friday Night Lights here are some questions to think on for the upcoming podcast. We invite your feedback both here on the blog and by calling our voice line @ 662.259.0185.

What were your favorite one liners from the episode?
What happened to JD McCoy? Has he turned into the ultimate douche-bag?
If district lines were divided even somewhat evenly, shouldn’t East Dillon have close to the same amount of players as West Dillon?
Red just looks funny on Coach Taylor. What do you think?
I anticipate many battles between Tami and Joe McCoy. How do you see that playing out?
Buddy just doesn’t look comfortable. How long will he remain a Panther?
Can the Lions get healthy enough to play four quarters?

Season Four Is Here!

After a lot of hard decision making, I decided to go ahead and do the podcast during the DirecTV showing of Friday Night Lights. I’d heard that only about 20% of televisions in the US are watching DirecTV, so my initial thought was that not near as many people would be watching this fall as would be in the summer when it’s on NBC. But there are plenty of ways for people to get around that slight restriction. I know plenty of people who actually watched it both on DirecTV and also on NBC. So we’ll go with the initial run, because the die hard fans are going to find a way. Am I right?

Having said that, if you do plan to wait until it’s NBC run, then come back then. Because you don’t want to be spoiled.

Season Four News

Here is a great interview with Jason Katims, the writer for Friday Night Lights. He doesn’t give away much in the way of spoilers, but he does answer a lot of questions. More than I expected. But from what he says in the interview, it makes me look even more forward to this next season.

And Chris Littmann from The Sporting News was able to go and spend a day on set with FNL. He rubs shoulders with the stars, takes pictures, and sees the film crew do their thing at the Taylor home.

What are you most looking forward to with Season Four of Friday Night Lights?

3×13 Tomorrow Blues – Season 3 Finale!

We saw many things wrap up and many thing seem to have new beginnings. All in all, one of the best episodes we’ve seen so far. So join us in listening in on the podcast as Coach loses his job, East Dillon is reopened, Tyra gets into the University of Texas, and Lyla is going to Vandy. And it appears Tim is going to SASU while Matt is staying in Dillon with Grandma. And we also have an interview w/ Whitney Hoy who plays Madison Balmer on Friday Night Lights. FNL two season renewal a done deal?

Can you say TOUCHDOWN!?

We’ve been hearing for the past week that the official annoucement should come any day now. And today we’re hearing Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello say it’s finally happened. Though still no “official word” yet from NBC or DirecTV.

The details are two more seasons to run like Season 3 did: first on DirecTV’s 101 Network, and then on NBC. Two more seasons of thirteen episodes each.

Many storylines from Season 3 are wrapping up as we watch. And there are lots of questions about current characters and if they have a future in Dillon or not. And if so, what sort of situations will they be in? And we have to assume that there will be more students, players, and adults to add to season four, right?

Thoughts?

3×10 Episode :: The Giving Tree

So what did you think of last night’s episode? I thougth it had some powerful moments. And more than a couple confrontational moments. Look for the podcast to be up first of the week. And hope that my cold and hoarse voice goes away quickly too! (Hot tea?) But tell me what you think about a few things:

Did you expect Coach just to walk on into Matt’s house? And did you expect him just to walk out w/o saying anything?
How did you think the conversation between Coach and Matt went while Eric was cleaning the grill?
Tell us what you thought of “The Giving Tree” speech that Landry gave to Tyra?
And the confrontation between Lyla and Buddy with Tim in the mix. What were your thoughts there?
And while not really a confrontation, the tension in the McCoy household over Madison. How do you feel about that, and how do you think it will play out?

Great Interview w/ Jason Katims

I found a great interview w/ the head writer and executive producer of Friday Night Lights, Jason Katims, on Variety.com by Kathy Lyford. It offers plenty of insight into some past seasons and also what’s happening currently. So be sure to check it out here.

In it he says that the best way to ensure another year or two for FNL is for fans to contact NBC and DirecTV and tell them that we all have to have more FNL.

Welcome to Clear Eyes – Full Hearts

My name is Blake and I’ve been a Friday Night Lights fan since the beginning.

I know we’re midways in season three right now, but I decided it was finally time for Friday Night Lights fans to have a podcast of their own. So bear with me as I learn my way around here and get used to things. But the first episode is up and already making plans for the second episode. I just submitted the podcast to iTunes, so it might take a few days to make it up there. But we gotta be patient.
